I began my career working for a Fortune 500 company. It was a great experience, but frankly, it was a little boring. Over the course of my career I have worked for earlier stage companies. And not surprisingly, with each step, I’ve found myself happier and happier. Along the way I have had the good fortune to work for and with a number of amazing entrepreneurs and business professionals. We have learned a lot from each other.
I have always been drawn to situations where there are still big problems to be solved and big ideas to be implemented. For better or for worse, I have become an entrepreneurial junkie. And whether it’s for a startup, or a later stage company, I am most happy when I am working with a motivated team, turning ideas into reality.
I started Rocket Factory because I noticed that many early stage companies were being overlooked and horribly under-served by traditional advertising agencies, business consultancies and marketing services providers. What these early stage companies frequently need is a committed, passionate, smart marketing professional to get in the trenches with the founders/management team and take responsibility for making growth happen. But what they instead get is a bundle of expensive, off-target and scattershot marketing “ideas of the week” that not only waste money, but waste time. In their rush to “do something”, early stage companies often hire marketing and advertising firms who have no deep understanding of their business and no real stake in the long-term success of their client.
